URGENT APPEAL- JOINT CALL FOR HELP AND PRAYERS FOR LEBANON

With the support of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB), Aid to the Church in Need Canada (ACN), Catholic Near East Welfare Association (CNEWA) Canada, and Development and Peace ― Caritas Canada (DPCC) are launching an appeal for prayers and generosity to support the most urgent needs of people in Lebanon, following the bombardments in the country that have already claimed hundreds of innocent lives. “With the conflict between Hezbollah and Israel now having spread into Lebanon, causing further death, destruction and displacement, let us, the Catholic faithful in Canada, renew our prayers for peace in the Middle East, as urged by Pope Francis, and do whatever we can to help the people who are affected by this recent escalation in violence,” Most Rev. William T. McGrattan, President of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB).

Wednesday, Sept. 25 - Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024
St. Charles Borromeo Church
811 Lawrence Ave. W., Toronto

From 7 am to 7 pm we will pray for 40 consecutive days becoming a visible sign to protect life.

We hope to be a sign of hope that a mother or father will see before entering the abortion facility and save their future child. We may also be a sign of mercy for an abortion worker who is seeking help to get out of a circle of destruction.

PARISH HEAD COUNT

The annual Archdiocesan parish headcount will take place the following weekends: Oct 19/20 and Oct 26/27. The attendance count provides the archdiocese with valuable information regarding parish vitality and needs.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION AND CONFIRMATION

Parents/legal guardians of children currently in Grade 2 or above who wish to receive First Communion in the Spring of 2025 and parishioner families with children in grade 7 or 8 who wish to celebrate Confirmation in 2025 are invited to register for preparation on our parish website: saintcecilia.ca

DEADLINE: Tuesday, November 5, 2024 or earlier if we reach capacity.

Non-parishioners registering for Confirmation require a letter of permission from their pastor to prepare for Confirmation in this parish.

GIFTS OF SECURITIES

One of the most financially sound ways to support the Archdiocese of Toronto is a gift of securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds). When you donate these and other publicly traded securities to a registered charity, you do not pay any capital gains tax and you receive a tax receipt for the full amount of the gift. It means a great tax break for you and more significant support of your parish and various archdiocesan charities such as ShareLife, St. Augustine’s Seminary, The Shepherds’ Trust and many others. To donate securities, follow this link: Archdiocese of Toronto - Gift of Securities (archtoronto.org) and download the “How to Gift Securities Info Sheet” and “Letter of Direction.”
