1 May 2022 – Third Sunday of Easter

ARCHDIOCESAN DAY OF PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

Friday, May 6

This year we are inviting you to take a moment to pray for two intentions: for an increase of vocations to the priesthood and religious life, and for endurance in vocations already committed. We also ask you to keep Ordinandi in your prayers along with all those who are discerning and who are currently in formation.

ORDINATION PRAYER VIGIL

Friday, May 13 – 5:30 p.m. (Mass) to midnight (Vigil)
St. Michaels Cathedral Basilica 65 Bond St., Toronto
Please join us for the Ordination Prayer Vigil for our soon-to-be priests.

This weekend is ShareLife Sunday

ShareLife Logo

“ShareLife is the way the rubber hits the road. This is how we validate the legitimacy and integrity of our Christian life: not by the words we speak, but by the love we share, in practical ways. That’s what we do with ShareLife.” – Cardinal Thomas Collins

Thus far we have raised  $37, 340 towards our goal of $49,000.  Please give as you are able during the ShareLife Sunday collection or at sharelife.org.

Hands and Heart of Service, April 24-30, 2022

The Archdiocese of Toronto Volunteer Recognition Week

This is a time of thanks and appreciation for our dedicated volunteers who selflessly serve our parish community with their hands and heart, following the example of Jesus and in response to His call to service for each of us.

Every day across the Archdiocese of Toronto, parishioners generously give their time and talent to nurture and strengthen the community and share the Gospel. We recognize that our parish volunteers are at the heart of the Archdiocesan call to stewardship and are instrumental in all that we do. We thank and recognize the difference you make in your faithful and wholehearted service to our parish ministries. A special thank you to our Church Cleaners, Liturgical Hospitality Teams, Eucharistic Ministers, Choirs, Collection Counters, Sacramental Preparation Co-ordinators. Livestream volunteers, Ministry Leaders, and volunteers in ministries not named.

“Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.” John 13:14.

May 1 - May 6, 2022

The Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCSDB) will join school boards across the province in celebration of Catholic Education Week and all those who contribute to the success of Catholic education from May 1-6, 2022.  The theme for 2022 is “Rebuild, Restore, Renew Together | Rebâtir, Rétablir, Renouveller Ensemble”. The board invites you to participate in the many virtual events planned, and to browse their website for a list of resources and sub-themes for the week: tcdsb.org.

God of grace, help us to rediscover how to be side by side in rebuilding our communities of faith and learning. Help us restore harmony and balance in our relationships, and renew our desire to approach challenges confidently and with peaceful hearts. May we always rejoice in recognizing the blessings our lives hold. Amen +.

The easiest on-line options:

Archdiocese Donate Now link  https://community.archtoronto.org/page.aspx?pid=416 Enables you to give to St. Cecilia parish by credit card. You  choose St. Cecilia from a list of parishes and the Archdiocese directs your donation to our parish.  The parish receives a monthly report of all donations made via this method.  Tax receipts are issued to donors at year end by the Archdiocese (one-time gifts are receipted at time of giving).

Pre-Authorised giving  A set donation figure of your choosing is withdrawn from your bank account on the 20th of each month.  Please contact the parish office to set this up.

If you have any questions regarding methods of donating,  please email or phone the parish office.

Thank you for your many and varied contributions to our parish community!

Dear parishioners,

I hope and pray that you are staying healthy – both physically and spiritually. Please let me know if the parish can help you during these difficult times.

No doubt you are aware that our parish relies on the support of our parishioners to operate – parish salaries, programs and ongoing operating costs (heating, water, electricity, etc.) – are funded through the generosity of our parish community. It will be a challenge for our parish to maintain operations without the weekly offertory collection.

In response to many queries that I have received from parishioners, I offer below some of the ways that you may continue to support our parish if you are in a position to do so.  I recognise that many of you, like the parish, are experiencing financial strain at this time and I pray that those stresses are soon eased for you.

For those in a position to continue to give to our parish, the easiest on-line options would be through the Archdiocese Donate Now link. Through this link you can give to the parish by credit card.  These donations are handled by the Archdiocese.  The donation is directed to the parish of your choice. The parish receives a monthly report of all donations made to the parish via this method and tax receipts are issued to donors at year end by the Archdiocese (one-time gifts are receipted at time of giving).

Pre-Authorised giving is also an option.  A set donation figure of your choosing is withdrawn from your bank account on the 20th of each month.   We have a number of parishioners who give by this method. Please contact the office if you wish to set this up.

Weekly envelopes may still be used -  mailed to the parish or dropped off.

Thank you for your many contributions to our parish community. I miss seeing all of you at the Mass and I pray daily that we will be able to gather together again soon.

Yours in Christ,

Father Joseph
Pastor,  St. Cecilia
