Prayer In Time Of Covid

Gracious God, you who are the author of all life, and who desire the well-being of all people,
during these dark days of Covid 19, increase in us, respect and reverence for all human life.

Grant restored health to the sick,
comfort and hope to the dying,
strength to family members, friends, relatives, clergy & volunteers,
renewed energy to hospital workers, PSWs, nurses and doctors,
and perseverance to all in the health care professions.

Grant wisdom to scientists for the development of effective and moral vaccines,
discernment and right judgment for legislators,
aid to the discouraged, poor and vulnerable,
courage and justice for front-line workers,
and keep always in our minds the vision of the true common good of all the world.

We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION WEEK April 18-24, 2021

Today, at the start of Canada’s National Volunteer Week, St. Cecilia Parish  would like to recognize the immeasurable efforts of each of you who strengthen our Church community through your commitment to service.

Every day across the Archdiocese of Toronto, parishioners selflessly give of their time and talent to nurture and strengthen the faith experience of the Catholic community and announce the Gospel. From the tireless work of volunteer coordinators, church cleaners, liturgical hospitality teams, committee members, Ministry Leaders, to the faith-affirming contributions of musicians, Catechists, Lay Pastoral Visitors,

St. Vincent de Paul, The Rosary Apostolate, and so many other ministries, volunteers are at the heart of the Archdiocesan call to stewardship, and all we do in our parish.

We acknowledge and applaud the amazing work you do.

You make a difference, and we thank you.

Well done my good and faithful servant. Matthew 25:23

Building Renovation

After a long wait, and much anticipation,  we will soon start to see visible signs of the Phase 2 renovation!

An exterior fence will be installed around the church to prepare for the much needed water-proofing of the foundation. The washrooms will be demolished and portable washrooms will be available outside for use in urgent situations.  The Celtic cross will be temporarily re-situated for protection.

Renovation updates will be reported as they become available.

Thank you for your faith in the project and your on-going support!

2021 SHARELIFE CAMPAIGN

ShareLife Logo

This weekend is the first collection in our parish annual ShareLife Parish Campaign. The ShareLife mission of “living the Gospel by providing for those in need” is at the core of how we are called to live as Christians.

Our Parish goal is $39,300.00.

On this ShareLife Sunday, please reflect on your ability to contribute to our campaign this year.

So many people – here in our parish, in our broader community, and around the world – have been severely affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Agencies funded by your gift to ShareLife are continuing their work to meet the needs our brothers and sisters. With your help, as we emerge from the pandemic, ShareLife will continue to be there, living the Gospel by providing for those in need.

“Vulnerable members of our community are relying on you and me to ensure ongoing access to the care they so desperately need. This is why it’s crucial we meet our parish campaign goal of $13.8 million. Our goal can be met, but only if we each do our part.”

 Today is ShareLife Sunday.

Please give with a generous heart.  Thank-you!

Archdiocesan Week of Prayer for Vocations Monday, April 19 – Saturday, April 24, 2021

During this week, Fr. Matt McCarthy, Director, Office of Vocations, has asked that we all take some time, as a community, to pray for vocations to the priesthood, religious and consecrated life.   At this time, we also ask that you pray for our 6 soon-to-be priests along with all those who are discerning and who are currently in formation.  For more information, please contact your parish office, or email the Office of Vocations at vocations@archtoronto.org

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

O God, Who wills not the death of a sinner
but rather that he be converted and live,
grant we beseech you,
through the intercession of the Blessed Mary ever Virgin,
Saint Joseph, her spouse, St. Junipero Serra, and all the saints,
an increase of laborers for your Church,
fellow laborers with Christ
to spend and consume themselves for souls
through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son,
Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God forever and ever. Amen.

The easiest on-line options:

Archdiocese Donate Now link  https://community.archtoronto.org/page.aspx?pid=416 Enables you to give to St. Cecilia parish by credit card. You  choose St. Cecilia from a list of parishes and the Archdiocese directs your donation to our parish.  The parish receives a monthly report of all donations made via this method.  Tax receipts are issued to donors at year end by the Archdiocese (one-time gifts are receipted at time of giving).

Pre-Authorised giving  A set donation figure of your choosing is withdrawn from your bank account on the 20th of each month.  Please contact the parish office to set this up.

If you have any questions regarding methods of donating,  please email or phone the parish office.

Thank you for your many and varied contributions to our parish community!

Dear parishioners,

I hope and pray that you are staying healthy – both physically and spiritually. Please let me know if the parish can help you during these difficult times.

No doubt you are aware that our parish relies on the support of our parishioners to operate – parish salaries, programs and ongoing operating costs (heating, water, electricity, etc.) – are funded through the generosity of our parish community. It will be a challenge for our parish to maintain operations without the weekly offertory collection.

In response to many queries that I have received from parishioners, I offer below some of the ways that you may continue to support our parish if you are in a position to do so.  I recognise that many of you, like the parish, are experiencing financial strain at this time and I pray that those stresses are soon eased for you.

For those in a position to continue to give to our parish, the easiest on-line options would be through the Archdiocese Donate Now link. Through this link you can give to the parish by credit card.  These donations are handled by the Archdiocese.  The donation is directed to the parish of your choice. The parish receives a monthly report of all donations made to the parish via this method and tax receipts are issued to donors at year end by the Archdiocese (one-time gifts are receipted at time of giving).

Pre-Authorised giving is also an option.  A set donation figure of your choosing is withdrawn from your bank account on the 20th of each month.   We have a number of parishioners who give by this method. Please contact the office if you wish to set this up.

Weekly envelopes may still be used -  mailed to the parish or dropped off.

Thank you for your many contributions to our parish community. I miss seeing all of you at the Mass and I pray daily that we will be able to gather together again soon.

Yours in Christ,

Father Joseph
Pastor,  St. Cecilia
