INDIGENOUS HEALING AND RECONCILIATION FUND

The Archdiocese of Toronto will hold a special collection THIS weekend, October 1/2, 2022, to support the Indigenous Healing & Reconciliation Fund. The fund will support both local and national programs proposed by Indigenous communities to nurture the ongoing reconciliation journey.  You can donate through the parish this weekend or online anytime at: www.archtoronto.org/healingandreconciliation.

5th ANNUAL PARISH MINISTRY CONFERENCE


Moving Into the Deep Waters of Mission: Start with Jesus.

 If you've been serving in parish ministry and are looking for an opportunity to connect with others serving in ministry to pray together, learn together and to be re-energised, you won't want to miss this upcoming Archdiocesan conference.

The conference will feature keynote speaker Julianne Stanz (joining us live from Green Bay, WI) on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. In four engaging and interactive sessions, she will help us to set forth a vision for moving into the deep waters of missionary discipleship with joy, humour and practical insights. On Saturday, we will begin with Mass with Cardinal Thomas Collins as principal celebrant and homilist. The Auxiliary Bishops of Toronto will join us for a live discussion on missionary discipleship in our parishes. Come see our sponsors and pastoral exhibitors and enjoy fellowship with one another over a continental breakfast and buffet lunch.

FIRST COMMUNION REGISTRATION


FIRST COMMUNION REGISTRATION will open October 3, 2022. Parents with children currently in Grade 2 who wish to receive First Holy Communion in the Spring of 2023 are invited to register.

Registration will close Monday, October 31, 2022. (or earlier if capacity is reached)

The classes will be IN PERSON on Thursday eveningsThe programme consists of 11 classes,  1 Saturday retreat and Mass attendance.

First Meeting (must have registered on-line by the deadline): Thursday, November 24, 2022. 

Meeting details will be emailed to registrants.

 

Please note:  Sacramental Preparation should take place in your HOME parish. If St. Cecilia Parish is not your parish, please contact your home parish as soon as possible regarding their First Communion/Confirmation programmes as their programmes may be underway.

CONFIRMATION REGISTRATION will open October 3, 2022. Parishioner families with children currently in Grade 7 or 8 who wish to celebrate Confirmation in the Spring of 2023 are invited to register.

Registration will close Monday, October 31, 2022(unless capacity is reached earlier).

The classes will be IN PERSON on Tuesday evenings, beginning: Tuesday, February 5, 2023.

The programme consists of 8 Tuesday evening classes,  1 Saturday retreat and Sunday 11 a.m. Mass attendance.

PAKISTAN FLOODS - HUMANITARIAN RELIEF


Devastating floods in Pakistan have displaced hundreds of thousands, at one point leaving a third of the country inundated with water. More than 1,500 people have died following record rainfall with 33 million throughout the country affected by this disaster. The Archdiocese of Toronto will channel donations through Catholic partners (including Caritas Canada – Development and Peace as well as the Archdiocese of Karachi) to support relief efforts underway. Please note that these organizations are not subject to the government matching funds program. Those wishing to help may do so in the following ways:

  • Through the parish, making cheques payable to: St. Cecilia Parish – Pakistan Floods – Humanitarian Relief

HOSTS NEEDED FOR UKRAINIAN FAMILIES


Over 80,000 Ukrainians have already arrived to Canada through a special visa program created by Immigration Canada. An additional 500,000 have applied to the program and are expected to arrive in the coming months. Many are arriving to Toronto and are without family here in Canada to help them.

There is an immediate need for families to host for a period of between one and six months some of those who have arrived. To learn more about hosting a Ukrainian family, please visit: Archdiocese of Toronto - Ukrainian Crisis (archtoronto.org) and register for a virtual information session.

All children born in 2018 are eligible to attend Kindergarten

The Toronto Catholic District School Board invites parents to register their children for Junior ​Kindergarten beginning January 19th,  2022 at 10:00 am  E.S.T.

All applications must be submitted online only at soar.tcdsb.org.

The following documents are required for registration:

  1. Child's Birth Certificate (or Certificate of Citizenship/Landed Immigrant Status)
  2. Child's Catholic Baptismal Certificate (or proof of parent's Catholicity)
  3. Proof of residency in Toronto (2 documents)
  4. Application for Catholic School Support (completed at the school)
