2 September 2018 Twenty Second Sunday in Ordinary Time

God of wisdom and might,
we praise you for the wonder of our being,
for mind, body and spirit.
Be with our children as they begin
a new school year.
Bless them and their teachers and staff.
Give the strength and grace as their bodies grow;
wisdom and knowledge to their minds

as they search for understanding;
and peace and zeal to their hearts.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

The RCIA process through St. Cecilia’s parish, will begin this Thursday, September 6th, and then continue every Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the church. Persons who have been baptized in another Christian church and who wish to become a member of the Catholic Church are encouraged to participate in the RCIA before receiving the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Eucharist. If interested, please contact Angelo at 647-391-4217 or the office 416-769-8163.

RCIA process brochures are available in the foyer of the church.

Offertory envelopes are available to all Parishioners who donate to our parish during the Mass. It is your opportunity to have your donation recorded and a donation tax receipt issued to you for any donation over $20.00 by the end of the tax year.  You are not obligated to fill every envelope with a donation.

It is to be used when you come to Mass and donate during the offertory. It helps the office staff to record your donations more quickly and efficiently.

We have a number of offertory boxes in the office which are not being used. If you attend Mass in our parish, and have been using Visitor envelopes, or have been giving over the years and never thought of using offertory envelopes before, please see an usher about filling out a parish registration form, even if you are registered as a parishioner, and give the completed form to an usher. There is a place at the end of the form, where you will indicate you want offertory envelopes. The office staff will contact you once your request for offertory envelopes is processed.

Sunday Smile

ONE day I asked my Sunday-school class of four-year-olds how many of them said grace before meals. When I found that none did, I explained what it meant, and taught them a simple prayer that they could say before they sat down to eat.   A few weeks later one of the mothers came in after class to talk to me. “That was a lovely prayer you taught Emily, Mrs. Smith, but I must say, my husband is getting pretty tired of saying grace every time he opens the refrigerator to get a beer.”
